Don’t skip preventive care

Besides daily brushing and flossing, getting regular dental checkups is another way to prevent expensive problems from developing.

Get the most value from your dental plan by using your preventive care benefits.

  • Routine dental checkups – including cleanings and oral exams are covered at 100%. With regular checkups, your dentist can catch problems early and provide prompt treatment.

  • For other types of services, your share of the cost climbs as the type of dental procedure becomes more complicated. Your dental plan requires you to pay 10-20% coinsurance for more complex and costly procedures, such as a root canal, crown, bridge or periodontal work (to treat gum disease).

  • Annual maximums (the total cost of care a dental plan will pay in a benefit period) is $2,000 per person. You can find yourself running out of benefits if you need extensive dental work.
