unified insurance program

The Unified Insurance Program (UIP) was established in 1982 by the Central Washington Public Utilities (CWPU) to provide for the uniform administration of the group health insurance programs to the member utilities employees and their qualified dependents.  Benefits offered through the UIP include medical, dental and vision plans, life and disability insurance, employee assistance program, and a wellness program.

CWPU UIP member utilities include Benton PUD, Douglas PUD, Ferry PUD, Franklin PUD, Grant PUD, Okanogan PUD, and Pend Oreille PUD.

the governing body

The UIP Board of Trustees is made up of representatives of the member utilities. A Trustee from each member utility is provided a seat on the Board of Trustees. Currently, there are seven members on the Board. Each member of the Board of Trustees may select an Alternate Trustee to serve in the absence of the Trustee.

Regular UIP Trustee meetings are scheduled monthly on the second Thursday of each month, quarterly on the fourth Wednesday of the months of January, April, July, and October, and annually on the fourth Thursday of the month of July. The UIP Chair or Vice Chair may cancel or reschedule a regular meeting, or call a special meeting by giving advance notice, in accordance with the Open Public Meeting Act.

The Vision of the UIP is to be recognized as a leader in providing high-quality health and wellness benefit programs and services, which improve the quality of life of our members, while acting in good stewardship of public finances.

Mission Statement

The UIP’s mission is to administer a health and welfare program on behalf of its member groups and employees that will: 1) achieve long term financial sustainability; 2) empower member health and well-being; and 3) preserve the value of the plans.

Value Statement

As an organization, the UIP seeks to demonstrate sustainability, stewardship, simplicity, and partnership in all our interactions with members, partners, the public, and each other.
